A lot of Americans don't cook well. That's right, they live full lives. Sometimes fast food is their only alternative in the midst of a busy day. The issue isn't always cooking but rather planning nutritious menus. People who have trouble with this, however, must not be paying much attention. Because between cooking shows, the Internet, and a wide variety of easy prepare wholesome foods at grocery stores, it's not hard to come up with a seven day menu that satisfies everyone at the table. Now for some excellent dinner ideas.

Fairs and street vendors often have corn dogs, an American favorite. While not a healthy food, it is a tasty one that is easy to prepare. The batter is flour, corn meal, salt, sugar and baking powder mixed with milk. Then coat the dogs and fry until golden brown. If you want the feel of the fair, insert a popsicle stick.

In the old days dinner and supper were two different things, one a main meal and the other a lighter snack. Over time this was adjusted according to the needs of social class and work type. People who performed manual labor continued with the tradition of dinner to keep up their energy. Dinner has changed to become the anchor meal for most families, and a transition between work and school and preparing for a night of sleep. The meaning of supper and dinner have merged. The late meal can be light especially for people who are weight conscious. Try a roast chicken salad.

Busy schedules and crock pots were made for each other. Set it up in the morning then enjoy a great meal at night. The crock pot can handle the entire meal. Try pot roast and potatoes. Pick up some salad and a fresh loaf of bread at the store. You can also let the bread slide if you're worried about the waist line.
